As we all make the decision to either ignore the Super Bowl or give in to the hype, the SaskatoonScanner.com team has refrained from making an exclusive "Super Bowl Blog". A sports blogs has been considered but it will have to wait until some real football is played this summer. As we all know, the CFL is a far better sport than the NFL could ever hope for, but when it come to media coverage and hype, the Super Bowl is pretty big. From last night's snow storm in the host city of Detroit, to the drunk media personnel rousing it up with all kinds of celebrities that have no clue who is even playing in the game on Sunday, it is really something. Being in Saskatoon, you would think that the TV coverage would be minimal at best but it seems that half of the channels on our TV have something to do with today's official keyword: "Super Bowl". There are far more important things to pay attention to today and it shows with the results of actual numbers on Google News. There are at least 5 bigger international stories than the Super Bowl but we will leave that discussion for our next blog.
Spam Update
Having made a few submissions to various blog submission sites, we have been watching the progress of the number of visits to the various blogs that we have created. So far, there has been very little effect on the stats. Surprisingly, the most popular blog has been the SaskatoonLiveScanner blog that is rarely updated however it is listed on our most visited page on SaskatoonScanner.com, the live scanner page of course. CanadianPrairieStorms is a close second but nothing compares to the success of the SaskatoonScannerPolls blog during the Canadian Federal Election. Most significantly though, is the fact that spam and viruses are making a big comeback in the past week since we began making submissions. This is something to take a more serious look at in the future. A spam blog is definitely in the works.
